About Us
HealthTeamWorks focuses on continuous quality improvement using a systems approach. Less-than-optimal care rarely arises from lack of medical knowledge, but rather comes from the absence of reliable, efficient processes and systems that make it easy to apply consistent guidelines and protocols. We live by the words of our CEO, Marjie Harbrecht, MD, a family physician who points out that “Knowledge is crucial, but it is only as valuable as the systems used to reliably apply it.”
Our coaches and consultants seek to empower excellence in others — be they medical practices, communities or regions — to make a measurable impact on cost, quality and the experience of healthcare for patients and the healthcare team. HealthTeamWorks uses a systems approach facilitated by in-office practice coaches who optimize:
- The care team and its role in care delivery;
- Health information technology, including registry functionality to facilitate care based on clinical guidelines, outreach to address gaps in care and quality measurement;
- Patient engagement by assisting in the development of self-management support; and
- The creation of learning communities, where peers can share and learn from each other.
HealthTeamWorks relies on highly trained staff to implement our proven methods, tools and resources. Our quality improvement coaches facilitate practice improvement teams that transform the delivery of healthcare.
We can send our coaches to your practices and medical communities or help you develop your own capacity using coach training/mentoring and information technology. We have years of experience, working first with primary care and then with specialists, hospitals and medical communities to improve health and healthcare on a foundation of evidence-based medicine.
HealthTeamWorks has developed competency in convening learning collaboratives, training practice coaches and consulting with organizations to transform their procedures and culture. We help health plans, health systems and employers plan, develop and implement continuous quality-improvement programs to improve healthcare delivery and hold down cost trends. The literature supports — and our experience confirms — the value of combining in-office coaching with health information technology. HealthTeamWorks builds systems to empower excellence in care delivery.
