Martha Johns, MD, MPH, FACPM

Medical Director, Guidelines and Evaluation

Martha B. Johns, MD, MPH, FACPM, is a preventive medicine specialist with many years of experience in primary care. She is board certified in general preventive medicine and public health, a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine and a member of the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Her varied career has included work in community health centers, college health, the Indian Health Service on the Zuni and Navajo reservations, private practice and family medicine residency faculty, as well as medical writer and editor for a health magazine and 13 months as radio host of “Ask the Doctor.”

In addition to her position as medical director for Guidelines and Evaluation at HealthTeamWorks, Martha also works as a family physician at La Casa Family Health Center, a community health center of Denver Health, an integrated safety-net healthcare organization. In June 2011 she completed a two-year HRSA Primary Care Research Fellowship at the University of Colorado - Denver.

Her research interests include clinical guidelines in primary care, patient-centered care, health risk appraisals, music therapy and health behavior change. 

Martha lives in Arvada with her husband and their golden retriever; they have two adult daughters. She spends time outside of work singing, hiking, reading and practicing yoga.
