While important, the skills required in these roles were associated with organizational management, local politics, and professional advocacy. 

Now, in our dramatically changing healthcare landscape, physician leadership requires additional and more complex skills ranging from change management, Health IT expertise, systems redesign, performance improvement, business knowledge, as well as the classic leadership skillsets of organizational management and political savvy.
