Mike Chase

Dr. Chase’s career has focused on advancing patient-centered care by implementing processes and technology to support patients, their physicians and medical care team while improving quality and attending to resource stewardship. Mike spent advancing his medical career with the Colorado Permanente Medical Group (CPMG), which is comprised of more than 1,000 physicians and delivers medical care for more than 600,000 members of Kaiser Permanente Colorado (KPCO) including 60,000 Medicare Advantage members. Mike joined CPMG in 1986 and worked as a full-time practicing internist for the first 12 years. During that time, Mike was involved in development and implementation of clinical guidelines, redesign of the CME program, and implementation of clinical pharmacy programs in anti-coagulation and cardiac risk. He was a member of the pharmacy formulary committee and active in teaching and oversight of medicine residents. Mike was the physician lead for the Clinical Information System implementation, an EHR co-developed with IBM, and served as Department Chief of Internal Medicine. 


Mike joined the KPCO executive team and served as the Associate Medical Director of Quality and Informatics from 2001-2014, where he led programs in quality improvement, prevention, chronic care, patient safety, risk management, ethics, clinical research as well as medical informatics including the EHR, clinical decision support, clinical registries, health information exchange, and data strategy. In 2014, he retired after a 28-year career. 

 

Dr. Chase received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He is a former member of the HealthTeamWorks Board of Directors.
